Larimar Stone

Larimar Stone

Larimar is a rare variety of blue pectolite, a stone that has an origin restricted within a square kilometer in a remote mountainous region of the Dominican Republic. Pectolite, an acid silicate hydrate of calcium and sodium, is rather common in most parts of the world; however, none has the unique volcanic blue coloration to match blue pectolite or the Larimar.

The radiant blue color and the beach where it was first seen gave rise to the belief that the Larimar stone is the remains of Atlantis, the lost continent. Hence, Larimar is also referred to as the Atlantis Stone.

Larimar, with its brilliant blue color and characteristic, has a strong effect on the humans…physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Natives of the region strongly believe that Larimar gives its wearers the power to communicate with sea creatures, the reason why Larimar is also known as the Dolphin Stone.

Larimar is finely tuned to the human body. The stone has been found to stimulate the (fifth chakra) throat region. Larimar also has the ability to inspire and assist the wearer towards attaining calmness and self-realization apart from helping in attaining an open mind and release of tension and stress. This is a reason why Larimar pendants, necklaces, and earrings are especially in demand.

To summarize, the perfect harmony between natural air energies of air and the water that Larimar offers make it one of the most demanded gemstones of today.

The fact that Larimar is widely preferred as a gemstone is due to its magnificence and aesthetics. The brilliant blue coloration, resembling the sky, our planet, and the deep Caribbean waters, has raised the belief that Larimar stone has effects on the humans. It helps in stress reduction. These reasons have widely contributed to Larimar being used in jewelry.
